Pamela Davis transformed Edward Hospital from a small community hospital into a major regional medical center, Edward-Elmhurst Health. Pam’s courageous, innovative, dynamic leadership in the healthcare industry repeatedly brought local and national recognition.
For 29 years, Pamela Davis served as CEO of Edward Hospital and Health Services and Edward-Elmhurst Health. She played a significant role in the merger of Edward Hospital and Health Services and Elmhurst Memorial Healthcare, which created one of the leading and most respected healthcare providers, 8th largest in the Chicago area. Pam participated on each institution’s board of directors, serving on every committee at some point in time. She also served on the boards of two subsidiaries, The Center for Surgery, Edward Home Health and Edward Ambulance Company. While on the board of the Gary-Wheaton Bank Pam helped to facilitate their acquisition by Chase Bank.
Pam Davis led a large-scale healthcare system with revenues exceeding $1.4 billion, over 100 outpatient locations, and nearly 8,400 employees. Under Pam’s leadership cash flow increased more than 4000%, net profit more than 1600%. Her financial acumen helped Edward-Elmhurst attain investment grade status from Moody’s and S&P. She chaired EES SPC, an off-shore corporation created to provide medical malpractice coverage for their hospitals and its physicians, from its formation in 2005 until 2017. Pam led a period of rapid expansion and innovation which saw the first medically-based county fitness centers; the first all-private inpatient rooms in Illinois; first-of-its-kind Heart Hospital; the launch of Access DuPage for the working poor; and the founding of the 1,000 member Illinois Health Partners, which she co-chaired.
Davis earned a M.H.A. Hospital and Health Services and a B.A. in economics and social studies, both from the University of Iowa. She served in many volunteer leadership roles including the boards of the Illinois Hospital Board, American Hospital Association Regional Board, Choose DuPage, and DuPage Regional Development Alliance. Pam is serving on the Sanford International Healthcare Board, and participates in The Chicago Network, various task forces and civic committees. She has received numerous awards and recognition, some multiple times, including Crain’s Who’s Who in Business and Becker’s Hospital Review for leading one of the country’s top 100 hospitals, being one of the 500 People to Know in Healthcare, and as one the 130 Top Women Hospital and Health System Leaders. Among her most meaningful honors, Charlie Gibson, World News Tonight recognized Pam as ABC’s Person of the Week in 2008 and Crain’s 20 Most Powerful Women in Chicago Business in 2014.
